Chipirón
Chipirón Tapas Bar
Location: Stockholm
Year: 2022
The restaurant duo Jim & Jacob approached HAHA studio to help them realize their vision of their new tapas bar Chipirón. HAHA studio gained their trust to enlighten the space and get full responsibility for the interior design, graphic profile, and logotype. A project that we were extra involved with - and extra proud of.
Chipirón, meaning tiny squid in Spanish, is a small lively tapas bar in the heart of Stockholm. With only 25 sq m to work with, HAHA studio had to maximize the desired effect of lighting and interior to work with the restaurant's concept. Emedietly catching your eye, the grand centerpiece can be seen as an abstract squid, in which eight tentacles spores out with smaller glass globes linked to them.
The ceiling is also embellished with art that emphasizes the restaurant's frequently used ingredients, such as garlic, fish, and tomato. The logotype itself is a take on the vintage fish and seafood cans found throughout Spain and Portugal.
The ceiling is covered with 24 handblown glass globes á 150 mm in diameter, and the great centerpiece has a vast glass globe of 600 mm in diameter. The tables, chairs, and walls are all based on a natural oak to contrast the crowded and imaginary ceiling. This space is full of exciting details that are best experienced on sight.
